MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATION AND RIGHTS

Membership shall consist of:
Professional Membership:
Business Associations and Chambers of Business or similar associations registered in country/countries in the Asia Pacific that focus on promoting business interests and opportunities with South Africa. A Professional Member shall be entitled upon payment of its entrance fee to be represented by its President and shall further be entitled to designate in writing up to two additional individuals aged 21 years and above who are senior office bearers (e.g. Members of the Executive Committee) in that Professional Member as its additional nominees. Professional Members have voting rights and the right to hold office.

Corporate Membership:
Any company, firm or other unincorporated body of persons who holds a valid membership in at least one Professional Member. A Corporate Member shall be entitled upon payment of its entrance fee to designate in writing two individuals aged 21 years and above working for or with that Corporate Member as its nominees. Corporate Members have voting rights and the right to hold office.

• Additional nominees will be at the discretion of the Committee and any approved thereof shall be subject to payment of additional fees. The Corporate Member nominees shall be entitled to all rights, and privileges as the Professional Member nominees as long as the Corporate Member retains a valid membership with a Professional Member or until a transfer of nominee notice is delivered to the Secretary. A Professional Member and Corporate Member shall be entitled to change any of its nominees by delivering a written notice of transfer to the Secretary together with a transfer fee of US $25.00 per nominee. The change in nominee shall be effective as at date of receipt of the notice and transfer fee.

Ex-officio Membership:
All Heads of South African Missions in the Asia Pacific Region will be ex officio non voting Members of the Society and will represent themselves or nominate a member of staff to represent the Mission. Ex officio Members shall also not hold office in the Society.

Honorary Membership:
Any individual may be invited at the discretion of the Committee to be an Honorary Member. Honorary Members shall not have any right to vote or to hold office in the Society.

Patron:
Any individual may be invited at the discretion of the Committee to be a Patron. Patrons shall not have any right to vote or hold office in the Society.
